Issues
Financial Planning:
My top priority is to address the current economic recession impacting the City.
- I will work with citizens to prioritize and determine the level of services they want
and need.
- Identify all current and future funding revenue.
- Develop sound financial strategies and revenue streams.
- Spearhead partnering efforts with regional and local leaders for shared services
to maximize revenue and resource use.
Community Outreach-Communicating with Citizens
Citizens must have a voice and know that City Hall is listening.
- I will promote communication as a two-way process.
- Encourage citizen involvement.
- Initiate an interactive communication outreach plan to keep citizens current on City
issues and to solicit input.
Business and Economic Development
My goal is to maintain and support our business community and encourage its growth and
vitality.
- I will work in partnership with the DuPont Business Association to promote existing
businesses and to recruit new businesses to our community.
- Encourage heritage-based tourism and events
Public Safety (Police & Fire) - Essential Services
Maintaining a high level of Police and Fire service is essential for the safety of
DuPont’s citizens and to attract new businesses to our City.
- I will continue to support cost-effective efforts that will maintain or improve our
current level of service.
- Work with citizens to establish a Neighborhood Watch Program to prevent crime.
- Promote mentoring programs for youth who have been involved with the law.
Infrastructure Maintenance Plan
The physical appearance of our city is an indication of its health and vitality and must
be regularly maintained to prevent costly repairs and major overhauls.
- I will develop a plan to maintain our streets and sidewalks and
- Protect and maintain our parks, trails, greenways and open spaces.
- Initiate an equipment replacement program.
Cultural Heritage
DuPont’s diverse area history dates back 5,700 years. It is our greatest asset and
sets us apart from other cities.
- I will help the City to protect and promote DuPont’s historic sites by partnering
with the DuPont Historical Society, Parks Agency, citizen groups and other entities to
ensure public access.
- I will continue to work with the Historical Society in its goal to protect, preserve and
promote our history for present and future generations.
Consensus Building
Teamwork and consensus-building are important attributes when serving on City Council. I
will respect my fellow council members’ views, the democratic process, and will work
hard for the citizens of DuPont in developing common sense solutions to the issues at
hand.
